# Overview

### Intro

Helena is a prediction market platform, delivering real-time forecasts on fundamental blockchain events and trends. In contraposition with other prediction market platforms, its behaviour is based on **periodic competitions**, compensating periodically the best insight providers with economical prices and reputation. This underneath logic is managed through a side-chain infrastructure, enabling :

* High *tps* on prediction markets
* Trust-less assignation on prices

### Basic behaviour

Helena is based on a sidechain infrastructure using Ethereum mainnet to trutlessly compensate providers, and[ xDai chain ](https://poa.network/xdai)to bet on prediction markets. The overall behaviour of the platform can be summarized to 4 simple steps:

1. Bob subscribes to Helena with Dai on **Mainnet**
2. Bob receives freshly issued xP+ (our internal token) on **xDai**
3. Bob bets on **xDai**
4. Bob claim his price at the end of month, receives price on **Mainnet**

The previously mentioned behaviour is shown in the following picture, and explained on the following sections.
